WHO ARE WE

As the inventor and pioneer of the soft shell headgear market, the GameBreaker story goes back to the early 2000’s.  While running a top 100 global promotional products company he founded, Mike Juels started coaching youth and high school football in Southern California. He saw a need and found a void in safety on days when athletes were participating in either 7on7, flag football or during non-padded practices during their tackle football season.  To that end, the original GameBreaker soft shell headgear was developed and patented in 2001. After ten years of research and development, GameBreaker soft shell headgear went to market in 2011. While we started primarily in football, GameBreaker products are being used in multiple sports today. In 2019, we launched the GameBreaker-AURA, the world’s #1 rated protective soccer headband.

Our mission at GameBreaker is simple:
Protect the Player.  Protect the Game.

SAFETY IS OUR TOP PRIORITY

Since 2011, Virginia Tech researchers have provided ratings that allow consumers to make informed decisions when purchasing helmets and headgear. The ratings are based on more than ten years of research on head impacts in sports and are independent of any influence from manufacturers. Although all helmets currently sold meet minimum safety requirements specified by standards organizations, two helmets that pass the same standard may offer different levels of impact protection.  The ratings identify which helmets best reduce concussion risk, with five stars representing the best available.

Through a series of impact tests, helmets are evaluated using two fundamental principles:

  1. Each test is weighted based on how frequently players experience a specific impact; and
  2. Helmets that lower head acceleration reduce concussion risk

The GameBreaker-PRO headgear and GameBreaker-AURA soccer headband are both 5-Star rated by Virginia Tech and the GameBreaker-GB is 4-Star rated by Virginia Tech.

No headgear product or helmet can protect the wearer against all foreseeable impacts. Head injuries can cause serious, permanent damage and may even result in death. For maximum protection, the headgear must be of good fit and the retention system must be securely fastened to retain the sports headgear. The headgear, when fitted and fastened should not be removed easily. This headgear is so constructed that the energy of an impact may be absorbed through its partial destruction, though damage may not be visible. Make no modification. Fasten headgear securely. If headgear receives a severe impact return it to the retailer or manufacturer for inspection or destroy it and replace it.
